Double rainbow all the wayYou can't tell.. but it was there! Although I was almost more excited to see some birds of paradise.. Gotta love a good flower! Other than that, beach day. And a beautiful sunset to follow.

SnorklingMy ReviewI have a fear of boats, water, and fish. So the most practical family excursion: snorkeling. Honestly... I LOVED IT! Boating out to a little cove full of fish, octopi, and green turtles? Taking a break for a fun frozen drink.. The views alone... My review? 10/10. And book through your hotel for a deal!
Featuring the bucket hat.. If you haven't noticed yet my mom bought us all bucket hats with the expectation to wear them on this trip... This one is for you mom!
We spent today in a mini van.. Don't worry, it sounds worse than it seems.Except for me who was stuck in the back row for the first 6 or so hours. Having younger siblings is harsh man.. 0/10 recommend.. Overall Absolutely beautiful. In total the road was 64 mile long, 20 mph max speeds, contained 600 turns, 60 one lane bridges, and resulted in a 12 hour long minivan adventure but I guess the views were worth it. My best suggestion is to rent a Jeep, go to the bathroom any time it is available, and bring lots of snacks. Although a little scary the views of the cliffs could not have been better. After countless waterfalls and stops I'm happy to say I competed the Road to Hana! Enjoying the resortToday was a beach & pool dayThe Stay: Honua Kai Resort and Spa, Maui, Kaanapali, Hawaii, United States The Review: 9/10 The Pros: So beautiful. This was a perfect location for us to relax on the beach or lay by the pool as long as you got out early for a spot! Neither were more than a few minute's walk from our hotel room. We were able to look for coral and shells, spend way too much on bubble tea, and splash around a bit. The Cons: There were maybe two restaurants on the resort. Sure, we didn't want to eat there anyways unless you wanted to spend $20 per meal. But options are nice. Other than that I can't really complain. I mean we are in Hawaii and the place is beautiful. What else could you need? The eveningLuau at The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa!
Would you look at all of those good lookin' people! Here we enjoyed our excuse to dress up, pig out, and enjoy some traditional Hawaiian hula! Very cool thing to go to. 10/10 besides the seating arrangements with strangers but hey, there's no better way to make friends. The necessary photo shootCaption says it all. We probably spent more time taking photos of each other than we did actually enjoying the water. In our defense it was crowded and rocky! But still so so beautiful. I think this was when I started to bond with my sisters for the first time in their lives. Until a few hours later when we had a screaming war but that's beyond the point. To end our last night we went for a much needed walk around the ocean's edge. Found our way to a park and some odd venue set up? I don't think we ever figured out what that was. But we did notice that Hawaii is stray cat city! If only we weren't thousands of miles away from home..
The run-downI don't know where my parents found Ernie's tour but it was a great use of our day. The eight or so hour bus ride started fairly early at the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve in Oʻahu. Here we experienced a beautiful lookout to a beach and even a little geyser Ernie was more than excited to point out. It was a beautiful view, and would have been a great (but busy) place to splash around a little. Next upThe Byodo-In Temple The temple stop of this journey was very cool. Although I must admit it's hard to fully enjoy the surreal aspect of being at a temple that's now a tourist trap, but when you put your phone down and stare for a minute the beauty really sinks in. Let's just say I wouldn't be opposed to booking my next vacation to Japan. But here we did a loop, rang the gong, spotted the bronzed buddha, watched Ernie feed a swarm of koi, and continued on with our day. Last StopWith a restroom, bbq lunch, and a few other beaches in-between we made our way to the Dole Plantation. I may be biased but this was the best stop yet. And no, the fruit whip is not overrated.
Day 1After some travel time getting to the hotel we booked it outside for a buffet and some tropical beverages. Mai Tai's? I'm a fan. No surprise there. After resting up in the hotel for a bit and fighting over beds we finally made our way down to the cute little lagoon and beach area. The night was full of fireworks and most of us dozing off in the grass.. What a day!
Time for bed PLEASE.
